ANCLA DE ORO
En 1997, el REGIMIENTO DE INFANTERIA N° 7 “ESMERALDA”, a petición de la ciudadanía, con abundantes firmas y mucho apoyo de reservistas, ex soldados y ciudadanía en general, fue galardonado con la distinción de la Ilustre Municipalidad de Antofagasta , "ANCLA DE ORO", quedando registrado este hecho mediante el Decreto (E) N° 93 del 11 de Febrero 1997. En la fotografía el entonces Alcalde Don PEDRO ARAYA ORTIZ, condecora el Estandarte de Combate con este reconocimiento ciudadano.
